August 2, 2021 - Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 17700 Katy Freeway (Interstate Highway 10 West ) about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday (August 1).

The identity of the male victim, 32, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Uribe and Officer A. Chheav reported:

The victim, driving a black Mercedes Benz C-Class, was traveling westbound on the main lanes of the freeway when the vehicle was involved in a crash and was stalled in the main lanes of the freeway.  A few minutes later, a grey Infiniti QX60 struck the read of the Mercedes, ejecting the victim from the Mercedes. 

The victim was transported via Life Flight Helicopter to Memorial Hermann -Texas Medical Center Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  The driver and passengers of the Infiniti were transported to Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital where they were treated.  The driver of the Infiniti was evaluated and did not show signs of intoxication.  

The investigation is continuing.
