HPD Major assaults & Family Violence Division Officers V. Habukiha and F. Lee, Jr. reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex at the above address and learned Mr. Jean, a security guard, had been shot.  Houston Fire Department paramedics transported Jean to the hospital in stable condition.

Further investigation determined Jean was attempting to lock the complex laundromat when he noticed a male suspect, later identified as Rodriguez, inside.  Jean asked Rodriguez to leave so he could lock up, which led to a verbal altercation.  Rodriguez then fired multiple times at Jean, striking him in the torso.

Rodriguez was detained at the scene and subsequently charged for his role in the shooting.
