Investigation into Fatal Crash at 8700 Martin Luther King Boulevard

August 11, 2021 - Houston police are investigating the death of a man following a crash at 8700 Martin Luther King Boulevard that occurred about 10:30 p.m. on July 26.  

The identity and cause of death of the victim, 65, are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Ogden and Officer N. Duval reported:

The driver of a blue Nissan Maxima was traveling northbound on Martin Luther King Boulevard when the victim attempted to cross the street, not in a crosswalk, and was struck by the Nissan.  The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene, was questioned and released.  He did not show signs of intoxication. 

The victim was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to an area hospital where he was treated.  He was released on July 28th. 

When the victim did not arrive at his residence the same day, a missing person's report was filed by his caretaker.  The victim was then found deceased in the 200 block of Jackson Street on July 30th.

The investigation is pending the victim's cause of death.
