August 23, 2021 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 8600 East Freeway (Interstate Highway 10 East) about 3 a.m. on Saturday (Aug. 21).

The identity of the male victim, 52, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Pham and Officer J. Crisler reported:

The victim was driving a gray Ford F-150 pickup truck eastbound at the above address and exited to take the ramp to U.S. Highway 90 East.  According to witnesses, the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed when its right back tire came off the vehicle.  The truck then struck a concrete barrier several times before coming to a rest.  Responding paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.  No other persons or vehicles were involved in the crash.

The investigation is continuing.
