Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 1400 North Freeway

December 20, 2021 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 1400 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) about 12:35 a.m. on Sunday (Dec. 19).

The suspect, Sarah Gay (w/f, 26), is charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter in the 228th State District Court.  A booking photo of Gay, who is hospitalized, is not available at this time.

The identities of the two deceased victims - a man, 31, and a woman, 30 - are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Hroch and Officer T. Phillips reported:

Gay was driving a black Dodge Charger northbound in the southbound lanes of the freeway at the above address and struck a black Kia Rio and a gray Kia Soul, both traveling southbound.  The two persons in the Kia Rio were pronounced deceased at the scene.  The driver of the Kia Soul was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

Gay was also transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  She showed signs of impairment and was subsequently charged.
