Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 4400 South Loop East

February 3, 2021 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 4400 South Loop East (South Interstate Highway 610 East) that occurred about 4:30 p.m. on Sunday (January 31).  

The suspect, Oscar Calixto (H/m, 23), is charged with murder in the 174th State District Court.  He is accused in the death of Oscar Canizales, 28, who died at the scene.  

A prior booking photo of Calixto, who is not in custody, is attached to this news release.  

HPD Homicide Division Detectives E. Martinez and R. Montalvo reported:  

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a tire shop at the above address and learned Canizales had been shot several times by an unknown male suspect.  The suspect fled the scene in a 1999 gray Chevrolet Suburban prior to officers' arrival.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Canizales deceased. 

Further investigation identified Calixto as the suspect in this case and he was subsequently charged for his role in the shooting.  He remains at-large.
