February 21, 2021 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 5100 Westheimer Road about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday (February 20).

The identity of the deceased male victim, 39, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and Officer D. Jones reported:

Witnesses stated that four motorcyclists were traveling westbound on Westheimer Road at excessive speeds and racing.  A taxi cab traveling eastbound on Westheimer made a U-turn in the median at the above address to travel westbound.  Evidence from the scene indicated the motorcyclists either skidded more than 100 feet and struck the right passenger side of the taxi cab or dropped the motorcycle to the ground.

One motorcyclist (victim) struck the taxi cab and died at the scene.  The other three male motorcyclists, in their mid 20s, were transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The male driver, 62, of the taxi cab, was not injured.  He remained at the scene, consented to a blood draw and did not show visible signs of intoxication.

The investigation is continuing.
