Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 700 Fidelity Street

January 20, 2021 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 700 Fidelity Street about 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday (January 19).

The suspect, Herbert Talley (b/m, 19), is charged with failure to stop and render aid in the 209th State District Court.  A booking photo of Talley, who is hospitalized, is not available at this time.

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer J. Gaona reported:

The victim, driving a gray Kia Forte, had just turned northbound on Fidelity Street after leaving the westbound stop sign on Delaware Street.  Talley, driving a black Infinity G35 at a high rate of speed, struck the Kia, causing both vehicles to spin.  The Infinity struck a pole and the Kia overturned and crashed against a house in the 600 block of Fidelity Street.

The driver of the Kia was pronounced deceased at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics.  Talley, who had left the crash scene on foot, was located nearby and transported to an area hospital.  Investigators questioned Talley at the hospital and charges were subsequently filed against him.

The investigation is continuing.
