Investigation into Shooting at 4000 Elgin Street

March 18, 2021 - Houston police are investigating the shooting of a man at 4000 Elgin Street about 5:20 p.m. on Monday (March 15).

The victim, Thaddius Mitchell, 31, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer J. Cimeni reported:

Mr. Mitchell stated that he was driving on Texas Spur 5 and approaching Elgin Street when he cut off a vehicle.  This led to a verbal altercation with the driver of the other vehicle and, at some point, a suspect inside the other vehicle fired several shots toward Mitchell's vehicle.  Mitchell was struck one time in the hip.  An adult female friend in Mitchell's vehicle was not struck.  Mitchell then drove to a business where someone assisted him and transported him to a local hospital.  The suspect vehicle fled the area.

There is no known suspect or vehicle description at this time.
