March 19, 2021 - Houston police are investigating the shooting of a man at 3950 Bellfort Street that occurred about 6:20 p.m. on Monday (March 15).

The victim, Quinton Hunt, 34, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer K. Saulsberry reported:

Mr. Hunt and a known male got into an altercation after the male came over to an apartment at the above address to pick up a family member involved in a separate argument.  During the altercation, Hunt pulled out a gun from his pocket and followed the male to an apartment. The male, saying he was in fear of his and his family member's life, pulled his own gun from his holster.  An exchange of gunfire ensued and Hunt was shot more than once in the abdomen and left thigh.  Paramedics transported Hunt to the hospital.

The male, who has a license to carry a handgun, was questioned and claimed self-defense.  Investigators contacted the Harris County District Attorney's Office, which declined charges against the male.  The investigation is continuing.
