Investigation into Fatal Crash at 2500 West Loop South

May 27, 2021 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 2500 West Loop South (West Interstate Highway 610 South) about 8:25 p.m. on Wednesday (May 26).  

The identity of the male victim, 33, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer S. Le reported:  

According to a witness, two motorcycles were traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of traffic on the main lanes of the West Loop South.  When vehicles slowed down due to heavy traffic, the motorcyclists attempted to change lanes;.  One of the motorcycles, a blue Yamaha, struck the rear of a white Chevrolet Tahoe. and fell to the ground.  The operator (victim) was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  Neither the other motorcyclist nor the driver of the Tahoe was injured.  

The driver of the Tahoe, who was determined not to be impaired, remained at the scene and was questioned and released.
