Investigation into Fatal Crash at 1600 North Loop East

November 04, 2021 - Houston police have learned a woman critically injured in a crash that occurred at 1600 North Loop East (North Interstate Highway 610 East) service road about 3:35 p.m. on October 15 has died.

The identity of the victim, 87, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Officer S. Le reported:

The driver of a red Dodge Avenger was traveling eastbound at the above address when he failed to control his speed and struck the back of a white Kenworth 18-wheeler cab and trailer stopped at a red light at Hardy Street.  The female passenger (victim) in the Dodge was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital.  She was later pronounced deceased at Houston Hospice on Tuesday (November 3).  No one else was injured. 

No charges have been filed at this time.  The investigation is continuing.
