Investigation into Fatal Crash at 1800 St. Joseph Parkway

October 3, 2021 - Houston police have learned a juvenile male critically injured in a crash at 1800 St. Joseph Parkway about 10:35 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 1) has died.

Medical staff advised investigators the victim, 8 years of age, was pronounced deceased today (Oct. 3).  The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Pham and Officer Johnson reported:

Witnesses stated a black Dodge Challenger was traveling northbound in the 1800 block of Chartres Street when the driver ran the red light and struck a silver Honda Civic traveling westbound on St. Joseph Parkway.  Paramedics transported the driver and two passengers of the Honda to an area hospital.  Doctors said one of the passengers (victim) was in critical condition with a skull fracture.  The adult driver and passenger of the Honda did not sustain life-threatening injuries. 

The male driver, 25, of the Dodge was not injured and remained at the scene.  He did not show signs of intoxication.

At this time, no charges have been filed in the crash, pending additional investigation.
