Investigation into Fatal Crash at 2900 North Freeway

October 18, 2021 - Houston police have learned a man critically injured in a crash at 2900 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) service road about 7:15 p.m. on October 6 has died.

The identity of the victim, 60, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer S. Le reported:

The driver of a white Box truck was traveling southbound on the service road at the above address when he stated he saw a male walking in the middle of the street.  The driver moved to another lane to avoid the male, but the male then moved into his lane.  The driver hit the brakes, but struck the male and knocked him down.  Paramedics were called and transported the victim to Ben Taub General Hospital.  The male driver, 45, was questioned, determined not to be impaired and then released.

Investigators were advised that doctors pronounced the victim deceased at the hospital on Sunday (Oct. 17).
