Investigation into Fatal Crash at 6400 Martin Luther King Boulevard

July 6, 2022 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 6400 Martin Luther King Boulevard about 6:10 p.m. on Tuesday (July 5).

The identity of the deceased male, 43, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer N. Duval reported:

According to witnesses, the male operator of a black Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound near the above address and weaving in and out of traffic. A red Dodge pickup truck traveling eastbound in the 5200 block of Southlea was leaving a stop sign and crossing the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard.

As the Dodge reached the median, the motorcycle struck the rear of the pickup truck. The male on the motorcycle was ejected. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the male to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the pickup truck, who remained at the scene, was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and released.

The investigation is continuing.
