Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 9598 Main Street

October 6, 2022 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 9598 Main Street about 2:20 a.m. on September 25.

The suspect, Ernest Christopher Nathan, 43, is charged with murder and felony evading arrest in a motor vehicle in the 262nd State District Court. A booking photo of Nathan is attached to this news release.

The identity of the victim, 32, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives L. Hicks and O. Tapia reported:

The victim and suspect were patronizing a food truck at the above address when they got into an argument that escalated when the suspect shot the victim multiple times. The suspect fled the scene. Paramedics transported the victim to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition. Medical personnel advised detectives that the victim died from his injuries on September 29.

Further investigation led to the identity of Ernest Nathan as the suspect in this shooting. He was subsequently charged with murder and taken into custody on Tuesday (Oct. 4) after leading officers on a vehicle pursuit.
