Update: Surveillance Video of Suspect and Vehicle Wanted in September Fatal Shooting at 2400 Staples Street

October 7, 2022 - Houston police have released surveillance video of a suspect and vehicle wanted in the fatal shooting of a woman at 2400 Staples Street about 8 p.m. on September 10.

The suspect is described only as a black male of average height and build. He was wearing a white shirt and pants, and was seen getting into a silver or gray 2011 -2013 Honda Civic, possibly an SI model. Surveillance video of the suspect and the vehicle are attached to this news release.

The victim is identified as Merterian Joseph, 28.

HPD Homicide Division Detective A. Graf II and Officers S. Chettry and A. Ledford reported:

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call at the above address and observed paramedics administering aid to a woman who had suffered gunshot wounds. The victim, later identified as Ms. Joseph, was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Witnesses stated Joseph was shot while inside a parked vehicle. They observed an unknown black male suspect flee the scene.
