August 4, 2023 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 4002 Corder Street about 11:55 a.m. on Thursday (August 3).

The suspect, Tomecia Lashelle Bell, 33, is charged with aggravated assault of a family member in the 208th State District Court. A booking photo of Bell is attached to this news release.

The male victim, 29, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective A. Wright reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address and determined a male had been shot. He was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to the hospital. A female, later identified as Bell, was detained at the scene.

Bell told officers she and and the male got into a domestic dispute. At some point, Bell stated she grabbed a gun and it accidentally discharged, striking the male.

The Harris County District Attorney's Office was contacted and Bell was subsequently charged for her role in the incident.
