February 5, 2024 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 9300 Greensward Road about 5:10 p.m. last Friday (February 2).

The deceased male is identified as Omar Abu Dayyeh, 30

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Wu and Officer D. Jones reported:

The male driver, 38, of a red Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound near the above address when his rear seat passenger, Mr. Omar Abu Dayyeh, opened the door while the vehicle was in motion. Abu Dayyeh fell from the pickup truck and hit the ground. The driver immediately stopped and went to check on the passenger. A witness then called 9-1-1.

Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Abu Dayyeh deceased.

The driver of the Chevrolet remained at the scene and was determined not to be impaired. He was questioned and released.

The investigation is continuing.
