January 11, 2024 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a man found at 1301 Commerce Street about 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 10).

The man's identity and cause of death are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Homicide Division Detectives C. Vaughn and A. Herrera reported:

A Harris County Precinct 1 Constable deputy was flagged down by a citizen who stated there was a deceased man near the bayou at the above address.  Responding HPD officers found the man's body in an advanced state of decomposition and under a pile of brush.  Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the man deceased at the scene.  

The investigation is pending the man's manner and cause of death.
