Houston Navy Week
On Tuesday, October 25, 2022, the City of Houston will show support for U. S. Navy as we celebrate “Houston Navy Week”. Guest of honor: Vice Admiral Jon Hill (native of Texas), Director Defense Agency. The Ceremony will commence at 11:00 a.m. on the outside steps of City Hall. On behalf of the City of Houston, Mayor’s Office of Veterans and Military Affairs, I wish to extend a special invitation for you to join us for this special event.
The Navy Week program has served as the Navy's principal outreach effort into areas of the nation without a significant Navy presence, with over 250 Navy Weeks held in 80 different U.S. cities. The program is designed to share with Americans how their Navy is deployed around the world and around the clock, and why a strong Navy is vital to protecting the American way of life.
Navy Week focuses a variety of outreach assets, equipment, and personnel on a single city for a week-long series of events with key influencers and organizations across the market. During a Navy Week, 75-100 outreach events will occur in participation with corporate, civic, government, education, media, veterans, community service and diversity organizations throughout the city.
The Oath of Enlistment will be given to recruits on this date. This serves as verbal promise that reminds us of our commitment to our country, our service, and our brothers in armed. Also, the United States Navy Ceremonial Guard Drill Team will perform on the steps of City Hall.
