City departments offer youth programs in neighborhoods across Houston. Find information about after school programs, youth councils and other programs for youth offered by the City of Houston and partners.
After School Programs -- Afterschool programs take place in City parks, libraries, and with non-profit partners in neighborhoods across the city. We have also developed a map of after school programming thanks to a partnership with the Harris County Department of Education's Cooperative for After School Enrichment (CASE).
Youth Councils -- Youth from area high schools serve on various councils to promote civic engagement, participate in service opportunities, and act as ambassadors to their peers. Each council offers unique opportunities for students to develop leadership abilities and learn about importance of civic engagement.
Support Programs -- The City offers programs that provide important supports to youth, families, and organizations. These supports include child care, mentoring, address issues such as juvenile delinquency, and provide training in the 40 developmental assets.
