Officer Ruben Valdez
     12-13-19

Officer Valdez went above and beyond to assist the Harris County Medical Examiner in the medicolegal death investigation of a possible overdose scene that was transported to the hospital, occurring on 12/13/19. I was the lead investigator on the case, and since this was a hospital demise, HCME does not attend the scenes of deaths that are transported. When I asked Officer Valdez about the prescription medications that were located on scene he had already taken an inventory/list of the medication bottles on scene, including the prescribing doctor. He also provided a very good description if the scene. This information is frequently overlooked by law enforcement and EMS on scene, but is critical to the death investigation process. This information greatly helps our medicolegal investigation and helps our forensic pathologists determine cause and manner of death quickly and efficiently.

Art Acevedo
     12-13-19

Thank you Chief Acevedo for your comments regarding gun control, domestic violence and the cowardice of politicians. I am a marriage and family therapist in California who does Child Custody Evaluations in Riverside County Family Law Courts. Like you, I am painfully familiar with the consequences of minimizing domestic violence. It should not be called domestic violence but what it is: assault or assault with intent to commit murder. I was moved by your bravery in attempting to educate our nation after tragic loss of Sergeant Brewster. I know you will be talking a lot of heat over your comments and might even lose your job. I just want you to know there are millions and millions on citizens like myself who applaud you and are grateful you have used your position as an officer of the law further to protect all of us.

Officer Kraidieh
     11-18-19

I had a flat tire outside of my friend's apartment on Genesee St., right in front of Officer Kraidieh's car. I knew he was there in his car but did not want to bother him. It was my first time dealing with a flat and I wasn't sure where to begin. Officer Kraidieh got out of his car and came up to help me of his own volition. He essentially pulled all my materials together, including the spare, and did it for me while teaching me the process. He also very kindly gave me his plastic gloves so my fingers would not get dirty. He really didn't have to do any of this. I was spared what could have been a prolonged, inconvenient situation and able to get home quickly that morning. I hope it can be acknowledged that he went above and beyond for a citizen.

     11-12-19

I’d like to commend one of your officers who helped me tremendously when my car suddenly had a catastrophic failure last Friday, at the IAH airport area. Unfortunately, I cannot read the handwriting on the Record of Vehicle Disposition / Wrecker Slip. The occurrence was on 11/8/19 at approximately 10:00 AM - 4900 block of Will Clayton Parkway. Volvo S60, dark blue. Left hand lane.

The officer was extremely professional, polite and helpful. He ensured my safety and he called the towing service, filled out all paperwork, etc. All I really had to do was hold the umbrella over us! I think the unit number is 2-503D, but again, handwriting…

Anyway, if you can track him down, please relay my gratitude again and spread the word that he is appreciated.

Officer Forniss
     8-29-19

Please pass along to Chief Art Acevedo that this officer was really great. I was in a strenuous situation on the highway. He was very professional, kind, and effective! He kept the morale high, and everyone under control very well. He deserves a kudos I believe for his independent will to be a strong leader when we needed him.

Officer Qureshi
     8-28-19

Officer Asim Qureshi has assisted our Mosque to make it a safer place for congregants for past several years. He has given the valuable safety tips to the management to implements plans to secure the premises. He also work with other faith based organization as well. We always hear positive feedback about him from various community members. We highly commended that his department shall get him involved in the community outreach efforts.

Officer Ortiz
     8-26-19

Officer Ortiz was the responding officer to a minor accident in the Meyerland Plaza area in which my mother and I were backed into by a truck. The driver of the vehicle was quite rude to my mother and even went far as to shout racial slurs toward me because my mother is white and I'm black. The situation was getting tense when Officer Ortiz and his partner arrived and de-escalated the situation. Officer Ortiz was incredibly professional, courteous, and overall just a fun guy to chat with. The man that hit us refused to give us his information and Officer Ortiz ensured we had everything we needed. Ortiz handled himself very well despite the man's disgusting prejudice and his lack of respect for his authority. Officer Ortiz went out of his way to ensure my mother and I were comfortable and that we got all the information we needed. For this, we're eternally grateful.

Motorcycle Officer
     8-23-19

I am writing to thank a very kind and sincerely joyful motorcycle Officer. Today around 5:00 pm, @ Westview and Sage (Spring Branch). I drove to the Dairy Queen with my 93 year old mother to get an ice cream cone. As we pulled in "our officer" had pulled in and parked, we went to the drive through. He smiled at us, we waved and smiled back. As I pulled up and the young lady was handing us our order, he was in the store behind her smiling and waving. I smiled back, but he stepped away from my line of site. I handed her my credit card and she said no it was paid for, I asked who, she said the officer. I asked her to thank him for us!!! Since she did not voluntarily tell us he was buying us our ice cream it made me wonder if she thanked him for us. I CANNOT handle the idea that he might think us ungrateful. I cried as we went home. It meant so much to me. He had no idea how tired and depressed I was and what his act of kindness meant to me. I am mothers full time caregiver. She cannot walk, bad knees, her mind is going. I work for myself and caring for her 24/7 makes it hard and am limited in funds but an ice cream I can do. I was full time caregiver for Dad who just died 2014 of stage 4 bone cancer. I recovered from stage 4 liver cancer and breast cancer and a divorce just before diagnosis. I left an abusive husband. I have been feeling very tired and low. I do and do for everyone else. This sweet act of kindness from the officer was medicine to me. It lifted the weariness. I need to thank him. Please tell him the two old Gal's in the gray CRV at the Dairy Queen on Westview say "God Bless You" !!!!!!!! Oh I do hope we can return his kindness one day soon!

Vicki and Donna
     8-22-19

I had legal business to attend to at the County Clerk’s office at 201 Caroline Street. Vicki and Donna were on duty at the security entrance. There were very friendly and courteous but equally professional and competent in their duties. I felt a high degree of safety and security due their conduct. They represent the city and the county with stellar performance. I suspect they manage well and diffuse many an irate visitor at times, which gives good character to the city and county. Well done!

Officer Gillam, Butler & Sgt. Shilling
     8-16-19

I am uncertain if this is the correct place to send this feedback. If it is not, please let me know how to reach the appropriate party.

On 8/15/19 at IAH airport several HPD officers attended a death of an infant on Turkish Airlines with me. Officers Gillam, Butler, and Sargent Shilling were so kind and compassionate, and just overall amazing during this unique and traumatic situation. I really just wanted to share my gratitude for their kindness with the family and their collaborative work with me as a civilian hospice nurse. I feel honored to have worked together with such amazing officers.

Thank you.

Officer C. Brothers
     12-10-19

On May 28, 2018, Ofc. Brothers was severely injured when hit by an intoxicated driver. Ofc. Brothers was on an accident scene at the time and protected the driver of that particular accident by pushing him into the backseat of his patrol car to avoid being hit by an incoming vehicle. Officer Brothers was not able to protect himself from being hit by a pick up truck speeding down the I – 45 feeder road. Subsequently, he was hit and received severe, life long injuries to both arms, leaving him in the hospital with casts. I, as well as other members of the community who know of this incident, highly commend Officer Brothers for saving the citizen from being hit by the oncoming pickup truck. He displayed a great deal of bravery that night.

Officer Triplett
     12-10-19

I had the pleasure of volunteering with Officer Triplett during the Comida Food Drive at the Fiesta store on Edgebrook Drive. This officer has tremendous people skills and was welcomes and greeted by all. Officer Triplett has great communication skills and interacts with the public very well. He is definitely an asset to the Houston Police Department.

Keep up the good work
     8-14-19

Unfortunately, I did not catch the officer’s name but I called HPD today for a suspicious vehicle. It turned out to be nothing. Response time was fast and when the officer arrived I explained that it was a false alarm and apologized if I was wasted his time. He was completely understanding and friendly about it. I just wanted to thank this officer for his time and professionalism. Every encounter I’ve had with HPD has been very positive. Keep up the good work and thank you for every yall do.

     8-11-19

On August 11 around 6 pm, my wife and I were at a protest at an immigrant detention facility at 419 Emancipation Ave. My wife got seriously overheated and fainted. I want to thank the officers on duty at that event. They provided cold water and took care of my wife while I got the car to take her home. She is fine now because of their help. I did not get names, but a female officer who was on duty in a squad car in the parking area directly in front of the detention center was especially helpful. Thanks to all of the officers who helped.

Officer Brennan & Officer Lewallen

Officer Z. Wang
     7-25-19

I did a ride- along with Officer Z. Wang for his night shift on Thursday, July 25, 2019. It was an eye opening experience as to what out peace officers do to protect the citizens of our communities. I was very impressed with Officer Wang, as he handled each situation with professionalism and maintained a calm demeanor, even when challenged by the citizen being arrested for DWI. I enjoyed my experience and want to commend Officer Wang for his professionalism and thank him for his service.

Officer Tyneway & Officer Tsai
     7-24-19

On July 5, 2019, my family and I were out to dinner and at approximately 9:56 pm Officers Tyneway and Tsai were dispatched to a burglar alarm at my home. Officers were on scene within 5 minutes, and being unable to access my home because of gate, attempted to locate a phone number to communicate with my husband, R. M. They stayed at the scene until we arrived, and once inside performed a check of the home and the property to ensure it was safe. Please accept this communication as a commendation for both officers. I found Officers Tyneway and Tsai to be professional in their demeanor, handled the search in a safe and thorough manner, and exhibited sincere concern for our safety as well. I am very grateful for their handling of our alarm call and even more grateful that these young men represent the Houston Police Department.

Officer A. Qureshi
     7-18-19

I am the facility manager of the MAS Katy Islamic Center. Officer Qureshi has been a security consultant for us. He has been an excellent resource to us and the community. Any assistance we need round the clock, Officer Qureshi is always there to help! We had a shooting take place in January, where someone has come outside out facility and taken shots at our building in the middle of the night. Officer Qureshi was a HUGE help to us, and helped the community feel very safe, and talked to us about precautions to be taken, and just gave everyone the peace of mind we needed. We at the MAS Katy Islamic Center are very happy to know that HPD has such exemplary officers, and are glad we have this gem assisting and protecting us. Thank you!

Officer Danielle Rogers
     6-16-19

We had the privilege of being served by Officer Danielle Rogers this past Sunday (06/09/2019) morning at the Houston Intercontinental Hotel’s Medical Center location.

Officer Rogers responded to our missing persons report. The report information is attached. Our friend was in town for treatment at MD Anderson. Plagued with insomnia, the gravity of his situation, and the mental effects of his intense chemotherapy, our friend went for a 9 hour stroll at 3:30 AM. Unable to locate him in the morning and unresponsive to emails and phone calls, we became increasingly concerned. Upon learning of his departure from the hotel based on video surveillance, we contacted HPD.Officer Rogers arrived and immediately delivered value. She took the time to explore all facts and began creatively exploring possibilities and solutions. She contacted the appropriate parties to check the various systems to see if he had been reported and worked with hotel security to analyze video and gather intelligence about his whereabouts.Officer Rogers could have very easily taken the report and her routines. Instead she chose to engage and leave no stone left unturned. She was professional and efficient. She gave us the peace of mind in knowing all parties were doing everything within their power to find our friend. Just before noon, our friend returned to the hotel, dehydrated, tired and embarrassed for the commotion he had caused. We were, of course, thrilled he was ok but also grateful for our experience with Officer Rogers. She epitomized what it means to serve and made a bad situation better. Her professionalism, resourcefulness and compassion are worthy of recognition.

Kudos to HPD for hiring and retaining such talent and special thanks to Officer Rogers.

Sincerely, JF

JF

Officer Drake
     6-7-19

A patient of mine had an unexpected psychotic break and was convinced that gang members had taken over his apartment complex and were killing the residents. Officer Drake was dispatched to my patient’s apartment upon my request for a wellness check. I could not be more impressed with his patience, professionalism, and good judgement. He contacted me when he arrived on scene, spoke to the patient’s father, who lives in another state, and allowed my patient to engage with him as he was able. My patient was transferred, peacefully, to NPC on an EDO. I am well aware that these incidents can go badly, and they must be daunting calls for officers to take. Big kudos to HPD and Officer Drake for handling this incident so masterfully.

Officer N. Juarez & Officer C. Kincer
     6-16-19

Officer N. Juarez and C. Kincer went beyond their duties locating and returning property that was stolen from my car around March 27, 2014. While the electronics (primarily a laptop) were not recovered, all of the notes and other important contents of the stolen bag were located by these officers in or near a dumpster and returned to me miles away from the incident and form where they recovered the bag and contents. These efforts were greatly appreciate. (Apologies for waiting 5 years to get to this. I just found my note about commending these officers from that time. I’m also not sure doing this online was available at the time. )

Sgt. A. M. Sanchez
     5-15-19

I am writing to commend Sgt. Angelica M. Sanchez for her outstanding efforts and service. In my ongoing battle in resolution of my identity theft case (and the quest to clear my name), I felt as if I had been forced to become my own advocate. But when Sgt. Sanchez was put on my case, things quickly changed. She listened to me. She addressed my concerns. She answered my questions She kept me updated. Suddenly I was relieved of my hopelessness. These actions and qualities alone merit her commendation. In addition, I must commend her for her dogged efforts. Sgt. Sanchez managed to both identify and charge the suspect in less than 10 business days. I never expected a suspect to be identified, much less see any charge be filed. Please accept this letter of commendation.

Thanks to Officer Smalley who assisted me after being rear ended in rush hour traffic on the highway. He was extremely professional and incredibly kind to me. I was shaken up because the people who hit me were very aggressive towards me, and Officer Smalley really calmed me down and reminded me that I as indeed strong and okay. Thanks Officer Smalley and all of our HPD heroes that protect and serve us every day here in Houston. Tonight while assisting my daughter’s boyfriend with battery issues, a young man approached us for help, because he too was having car problem. They young man explained his car fell dead while he was at the light on the corner of West Orem and Buffalo Speedway. Officers Ginter and Boyle notice we were having problem not only they stop to help, but also redirected the traffic to ensure the safety of all parties involved. Unfortunately, the car would not start and my daughter’s boyfriend offered to tow the young man home. The officers continue to help escort us, while the vehicle was in tow, making sure we all made it home safely. The officers even went as far as helping to push the car. As a native Houstonian, tonight made me proud of my city and out Police Department. These officers that it’s nearly 2:00am in the morning and I could not go to sleep without giving these officers recognition they deserve.

Sergeant Ruiz and Officer C. Curry
     4-3-19

I think it’s important that we as administrators commend our officers when we get the opportunity. This is my chance to recognize several of your officers. The teamwork displayed and the willingness to assist shown by your officers on the day in question was outstanding.

On March 2nd, 2019 we had a bank robbery at a Frost Bank in our city. The suspects in this case were handed a stack of money with a money tracker from 3SI Security Systems. The suspects had no idea they were being tracked. Our dispatchers and officers worked together in an effort to track and apprehend the suspects but in the end it turns out we were given an incorrect suspect vehicle description and we were not successful in locating them.

As the suspects fled into Houston, the information was relayed to your department where a number of your officers got involved. Sergeant Ruiz and his officers were on their way to an extra job and overheard the activity going on and stepped in to assist.

They were able to track and apprehend the suspects when they fled on foot in a neighborhood on the east side of Houston (5600 Truett). Your officers and Sergeant Ruiz then went “above and beyond” by transporting the suspects, the suspect vehicle and the money ($49,000) to our officers here in Missouri City. We were very short handed that day and this was a tremendous help. The teamwork and willingness to assist is very much appreciated!!! Thank you.

I apologize for not knowing every officers name that assisted. The offense report done by your officers is 268154-19 and the reporting officer’s name is Officer C. Curry, Badge #153139. I listed Sergeant Ruiz above but don’t have his badge number at this time.

Officer Dubethza B Gallegos
     3-26-19

I would like to commend Officer Gallegos for being a true professional, honest, and courteous. My daughter and I met with Officer Gallegos on March 13, 2019 to discuss a harassment complaint I filed on behalf of my daughter., Officer Gallegos too my daughter’s statement and reassured my daughter that she did the right thing in speaking up and should not feel stupid (my daughter called herself stupid). Officer Gallegos also explained the possible outcome from DA’s office.

The main reason I am submitting this because even though our case was not even as severe as others, Officer Gallegos did not make us feel like our case was insignificant. She handled our case with the same importance. She followed through in a timely manner and we sincerely appreciate it. Our case closed March 21, 2019. Thank you, Officer Gallegos for your service to our community. We wish you the best and many blessings.

I would like to commend Officer Dunn for his helpful actions while investigating an accident on March 5, 2019 in which I was involved. Not only did he perform the duties required, but he helped calm all those involved and explained things very clearly and thoroughly. He is an excellent representative of the HPD.

Hi,
I am not sure if I am supposed to write this. But I couldn’t resist myself and i had to write.
My name is RL, i barely moved in to Houston and I am an international student @ HCC. I just wanted to thank Houston Police for being so generous and helping people out as and when required. The reason I am writing this is because I was too scared to go out and pray and offer my Jummah Namaaz at the Mosque. After, what happened in Christchurch, Newzealand. I was scared and quite nervous to go out and offer my salah for Jummah. I went to Madrasah Islamiah - Masjid, 6665 Bintliff Dr, Houston, TX 77074. And when I parked my car right accross the street was Houston Police patrolling. Alhumdulillah, it was a relief for me and most probably for all the people who came for the prayers and I was assured about Houston People having my back. I was able to offer my Salah for the day and was so relieved that I lived for another day.
I just want to thank Houston Police Department on behalf of all the communities and valuing our cultural Heritage across Houston.
I will definitely keep all of the Houston Police Department in my prayers and inshallah will pray for y’all and your family’s health and peace.

Officer Bryon D Vecera & Officer KJ Roach
     3-9-19

Officer Vecera and Officer Roach conducted a training seminar/demonstration for our company drivers and supervisors at our location. The instruction included roadside inspections, driver etiquette, load securment and other general DOT/transportation guidance. Both officers were very knowledgeable on the subject matter and very professional in their interaction with our employees. I would like to recognize them for their time and effort in helping our company remain a safe transportation/service company.

Officer Daniels
     3-12-19

My wife lost her cell phone in Hobby Airport, but I managed to reach the person who found it. He was at the gate and soon to board a flight, but I was not able to go inside the security one, as I was not flying out on that day. As his boarding time was closing in, I was nearly in panic. Then I met Officer Daniels and asked him what I should do. Officer Daniels kindly offered that he would walk to the gate and get the phone for me. A few minutes later, he successfully retrieved the phone and handed it over to me. I was most thankful to Officer Daniels. He must have more important work to do, and he could have simply directed me to talk to the airline company. However, he took his time and effort to help me out. When I expressed my thankfulness, he just complemented the honesty of the person who found the phone. With this opportunity, I would like to thank again Officer Daniels and the Houston Police Department for the help and kindness I received.

Dear Chief Acevedo,
I am writing to commend Officer Adina Carrington for her exceptional work. A robbery occurred at my childhood home in Houston in 1971. Many items of value were stolen including a firearm that belonged to my mother. My mother passed away in 2006 and my brother I were the executors of her will. Officer Carrington found and contacted me informing about a recent HPD arrest. She explained that the HPD has recovered a stolen firearm that belonged to my mother from a 1971 robbery. At first though it was a hoax. After speaking a few minutes on the phone, I knew she was legitimate. Officer Carrington has the firearm transferred to the Austin Police Dept. so it would be more convenient for me to retrieve. I just want commend Officer Carrington on her work. She did an amazing job of finding me and having the firearm returned. I truly appreciate her hard work. She did an amazing job finding me and having the firearm returned. I truly appreciate her hard work. I hope she will be recognized for this. Warmest Regards, JC.

While traveling through Houston on I45E we were involved in a motor vehicle accident, which totaled our car. The other 2 vehicles involved left the scene within seconds of the collision without giving their information. Officer BT Sheperd arrived and was very helpful. Please pass on my thanks to him for his kindness and courtesy, and his professionalism. Much appreciated from a Kansas Brother in Blue.

Officers Heiser & Joel Matthews

I had gotten locked out of my apartment, and I was stuck on my balcony with no shelter from about 11pm to about 6 am. I did not have a phone or any other method of getting help, and the weather was a windy 31-32 degrees for most of the night. Officers Heiser and Matthews were responding to a call in my apartment complex when I saw them. I called for help, and they responded. Officer Matthews procured sheets from the ambulance that they were escorting to help me stay warmer, and Officer Heiser found the number for the complex's after-hours phone service. Officer Heiser finally got the answering service to send someone to get me out of the cold. Officer Heiser kept me informed of everything that was going on, and he went above and beyond helping me to get out of the situation. Officers Heiser and Matthews stayed with me for the hour that it took for the apartment representative to arrive and attempt to get me back into my apartment, making multiple phone calls to ensure that it happened as quickly as possible. While this was not a life or death situation, I am extremely grateful to Officer Heiser and Officer Matthews for their swift and abundant aid.

L. E. Chaney
     2-19-19

I’m sorry this is so long, but I wanted to make sure the HPD understands my gratitude. Hello, my name is JC. On August 18, 2018 my world turned upside down. That day my father died. By the time emergency services got there he was already gone. Although he was up in years it still came as a total shock. I’m positive in the line of work the men and women do in the Houston Police Department death is nothing new, but I also know you understand that whether death is nothing new or something totally unknown, it still affects a person down to their very soul. After all the EMS and firefighters cleared out of the house Officer L. E. Chaney stayed behind. (Yes, I know that an officer has to stay behind till the deceased is taken away.) He was very kind, polite and understanding. He explained to us our options of the city morgue taking father (meaning since this was Saturday, we wouldn’t be able to see him till Monday) or us having a private funeral home take him. This all happened in the early evening. Although we had in mind a funeral home we were trying to stall. My sister lives Louisiana and was desperately trying to find a flight to Houston to say good-bye to my father before they took him away. I know that was an unreasonable expectation, but she was desperate. I know Officer Chaney knew we were trying to stall, but he never admonished us for stalling. He was very helpful and so considerate of our feelings. I’m not sure if your officers receive any training on dealing with families of the deceased, but the mood of the room constantly changed. There were moments where we were all through the myriad of emotions we did, but the mood of the room constantly changed. There were moments where we were all sobbing with grief or just quiet and contemplating our lives without my dad in them. At those times Officer Chaney just stood quietly in the background letting us vent our grief or arrange our thoughts. There were times where the mood lightened, and we spoke of fond memories that brought laughter to us and Officer Chaney would chat with us while we asked questions. Usually when there is tragedy in any home any “outsiders” would be unwanted and you would feel uncomfortable with them in room watching your grief or hearing any of your private conversations, but with Officer Chaney it was like having a family friend in the room. His presence was in no way intrusive, it was almost comforting knowing someone there was calm and in control and was more than willing help. Although I’m not sure, I really think he aided in our stalling for the arrival of my sister. It wasn’t for several more hours till my sister got to Houston, and even though he had been there for several hours he never once gave us the impression he was impatient, and he always showed compassion. He even expressed concern when we showed him on our family tracking app that my sister had landed in Houston, and was close by, and how fast she was traveling and was he afraid she was liable to get into an accident. So, after hours of stalling, my sister was able run though the door to say good-bye to my dad. So instead of having to say good-bye to a corpse that is cold, stiff and had been bathed and “arranged” for viewing by strangers, she said good-bye to our father in the house we grew up with our family together for love and support. So, Officer Chaney’s calm assurance and compassionate presence (and probably help in stalling) made a difference. Now I know at this point many people say that’s your job, and what you get paid for – it’s not. If it was, you would be paid more. A person can do their job( which I know an officer’s job (which I know an officer’s job is filled with risks) and just to be polite, and he (or she) would have fulfilled their duties. But Officer Chaney went above and beyond. And I’m sorry it has taken me months to write this commendation, but I saw on tv all about the problems going on with HPD and thought this was a good time to bring this up. I know everyone is talking and making comments, criticizing officers behind their backs or at times to their face, but I want the HPD to know that I know the truth. Officers are human, and just like Any human in ANY profession there will be ones that doesn’t live up to the high standards that the HPD has. How many times have people hone to a doctor that isn’t worth the paper their medical degree is printed on, and end up with serious health problems or even dies? Does everyone blame all doctors?” Do they insult anyone for just for wearing a white coat with a stethoscope? Or do they realize it’s not the profession that has the problem, it’s the person. I wish there was a way for people to know who Officer Chaney is and how he is a wonderful example of what I know the PD is made of, and I’m thankful to God he was the officer that answered the call the day I sadly lost my father. Thank you Officer Chaney, you’ll always be in our prayers.

SPO Mark Rubio
Lt. Salazar

On December 11, 2018, I went out to feed my two dearly loved pet ducks in their enclosed pond only to discover my neighbors’ dog in the pen and had viciously killed both ducks. I have had the ducks since they were mere babies! I was devastated to say the least. I called HPD and they came and investigated and BARC also came out. The dog of course ran back home behind the fence. The very next day Lt. Salazar sent Officer Rubio to check on me and the situation that had occurred. Officer Rubio so patient and kind and I didn’t ask him to take more pictures but he did. He realized how rattled and sad I was after such a loss of my pets. My husband and I do not have children but we loved the ducks like they were our very own kids! Officer Rubio did more investigation and also talk to the owners of the dog who tried to deny it wasn’t their dog. BARC had already confirmed it was their dog. On December 14, a day I can’t forget Officer Rubio phone me to say he had something for me. I met he and his partner in an Humble parking lot not know that he had purchased me two baby ducks! AMAZING thoughtfulness. I was overwhelmed with tears because it was out of his heart he took this action. My gratitude and Thanks.

Officer Tran, Lt. Nguyen
     1-18-19

I would like to commend two of your Houston Police Officers assigned to the Hobby Airport. Lt. Nguyen and Officer Tran went far above and beyond the scope of their duties in assisting me with locating my elderly mother who was lost and had missed her connecting flight between Corpus Christi and Dallas. On October 7, 2018 I was in Corpus Christi when I was notified by my sister in Dallas that my 83 year old mother’s flight had been redirected to Houston due to weather. We both tried numerous times to get assistance through Hobby Security and Southwest Airlines. Our efforts were futile to say the least. I decided to call the Houston Police Hobby Office and I was fortunate enough to have Lt. Nguyen answer my call. I advised Lt. Nguyen that I am a Dallas Police Sergeant and my mom was lost in the airport. As a police officer myself, knowing the limitations on staffing and the logistics of finding one person in a large airport who is unable to hear intercom pages I was extremely concerned that finding my mom would be almost impossible. Within ten minutes Lt. Nguyen called me back and let me speak to my mom on his phone. Our sense of relief was intense! With my mother’s age and health we had very serious concerns about her well being. Lt. Nguyen put me in contact with Officer Tran who literally could not have been a more compassionate, helpful and just a generally good person overall. Officer Tran spoke with the Southwest personnel and she was able to straighten out my mom’s flight information. Officer Tran stayed with my mom and she kept my sister and I updated until she boarded her flight to Dallas.
My family and I can not be more appreciative to Officer Tran and Lt. Nguyen. Your officers not only located my lost mother but they stayed at her side and made her feel safe throughout this ordeal. My mom refers to Officer Tran as her “ adopted daughter” and her acts of kindness will never be forgotten.
Please commend these two officers for their dedication to duty and for going well above and beyond the call of duty! We are forever indebted to Lt. Nguyen, Officer Tran and the Houston Police Department for helping my family in our time of need. May God Bless them both and keep them safe.

Commander Baimbridge & Mary Haisten
     1-4-19

A young soldier, AF, assigned to the 3 Infantry Regiment, Washington DC contacted me through a mutual acquaintance asking if I knew anyone in Law Enforcement that he could contact. His enlistment in the Army will be completed in about 5 months and he is very interested in continuing to serve the public as a law enforcement officer. I contacted Mary Haisten and after explaining A's request she told me that she would try to help. Mary reached out to Commander Baimbridge and explained the situation to him. He agreed to call A and answer his questions and give him some much needed guidance. I just received an email from A and he says in the email..."Got some good questions out, and he enjoyed my ambitions it seemed! Told me to text or call him at any time something strikes my mind, thank you again! Now the real decision is to be had, to go SWAT or not?" I am so proud of the Houston Police Department, Commander Baimbridge and Mary Haisten. They followed through and provided a young soldier with valuable information, guidance and support. Thank you.

Sadly, on Friday, December 21st, my neighbor (M) was found dead in his driveway of natural causes, at 2225 Sul Ross Street in the early afternoon. HPD was called and responded. This was a traumatic time for those of us who lived in the neighborhood and your “lead” officer is to be commended in the way he handled the situation. I am so sorry I didn’t get his name, hopefully you can look up the “case”. He was kind, sympathetic, understanding and patient. He explained the process and patiently answered all our questions. He was also very respectful and dignified towards M’s body. He called him “Mr. M” in discussions with us and we so appreciated his thoughtfulness.
Thank you, HPD, for your officers and “being there” for us! You are very much appreciated!
