Update: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 5638 Selinsky Road



October 27, 2015 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man found at 5638 Selinsky Road about 2 p.m. on September 6.  

The suspect, Tyson Murphy (b/m, 20), is charged with capital murder in the 208th State District Court for his role in the killing of Cornelius Cotton, 28, of Houston.  A photo of suspect Murphy is attached to this news release.  

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Hassig and Officer T. Ferguson reported:  

Mr. Cotton was found inside his vehicle at the Crestmont Village Apartments at the above address.  He appeared to have been shot.  HFD paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Cotton deceased.

Further investigation and Crime Stoppers tips helped identify Murphy as a suspect in this incident.  Already in the Harris County jail on an unrelated charge, Murphy was charged on Monday (Oct. 26) in this murder investigation.
