Investigation into Fatal Crash at 100 Kingwood Drive



February 11, 2016 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 100 Kingwood Drive about 2 p.m. on Wednesday (February 10).  

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and Senior Police Officer C. Tosso reported:  

An unknown male, believed involved in a theft at a different location, was driving a red Nissan Xterra at a high rate of speed on Kingwood Drive when he ran the red light at the intersection of the Eastex Freeway (North U. S. Highway 59) service road.  The Xterra then struck the front of a white Toyota Tundra pickup truck.  The driver of the Nissan then lost control of the vehicle and struck a concrete pillar underneath the freeway.  The driver of the Xterra was killed on impact.  Two adult male passengers in the Xterra were taken into custody and transported to an area hospital for minor injuries.  The driver of the Toyota was not injured.  

The investigation is continuing.
