UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 12900 East Freeway

January 26, 2016 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 12900 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 11 p.m. last Thursday (January 21).  

The suspect, Nicholas Theodore Myers (w/m, 26), is charged with two counts of intoxicated manslaughter in the 263rd State District Court.  A photo of Myers is attached to this news release.

One male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  A second male victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  The identities of both victims are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Roque and Officer B. Roberts reported:  

According to witnesses, the driver (Myers) of a white Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling westbound on the East Freeway at a high rate of speed when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the vehicle, which rolled over several times.  Myers and two passengers in the pickup were ejected and the pickup came to a stop on the service road.  One passenger died on impact and the other was transported to the hospital where he died.  Myers was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was treated and released into HPD custody.

He was subsequently charged and booked into the Harris County jail.
