Surveillance Video of Wanted Robbery Suspect

July 15, 2016 - Houston police have released surveillance video of a suspect wanted for a robbery at 9710 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) about 8:50 p.m. on June 6.

The suspect is described only as a Hispanic male in his late 30s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 250 pounds.  He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a plaid shirt.  Surveillance video of the incident may be found on the HPD YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/fH90ljcTX60

HPD Robbery Division Senior Police Officer K. Miller reported:

The female victim was gassing up her SUV at the H-E-B store located at the above address.  The suspect, driving a newer model red Toyota Camry without license plates, parked alongside her vehicle.  He got out of his sedan, opened the trunk, and appeared to be looking for something inside.  He then closed the trunk, reached inside the passenger compartment of the victim's SUV and took her purse.  The victim saw the suspect take her purse and ran around to confront the suspect.  When she reached inside the Camry's open driver's side door and attempted to retrieve her purse, the suspect slammed the door on her and fled the scene.  The victim was not seriously harmed in this incident.

The suspect is also believed to be involved in an incident on May 28 about 8:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the same H-E-B store.  In this incident, the victim was placing groceries in her vehicle's trunk when the suspect, driving a red Toyota Camry, pulled up next to her.  Without getting out of his Camry, the suspect reached into her grocery cart and took her purse.  A short time later, he was observed using her stolen credit card at a gas station at 3502 Mangum.  He is also believed to have been in the vicinity of T.C. Jester and West Tidwell the next morning (May 29).

Anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of this suspect is urged to contact the HPD Robbery Division at 713-308-0700 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
