Suspect Arrested in Fatal Stabbing at 1203 Lovett Boulevard


November 4, 2016 - Charges are pending against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man found at 1203 Lovett Boulevard about 3:30 a.m. today (November 4).  

The suspect, Ardie Scott Powell (w/m, 26), faces a murder charge.  He is accused in the killing of Corey X. Chapmon, 22, of Houston, who died at the scene.  

A photo of suspect Powell is not available at this time.  

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer M. Waters II and Officer G. Sullivan reported:  

HPD patrol officers responded to a person down call and found an unidentified male (Chapmon) lying on the porch area of a business at the above address.  Witnesses told police an unidentified male asked them if the wanted to see a dead body and then left the area on a bicycle.  Officers were then provided a description of the male.  

Powell was located later that morning a short distance from the scene on Montrose and taken into custody without incident.  He admitted to his role in Chapmon's death and charges are pending at this time.
