Investigation into Fatal Crash at 4400 North Freeway


October 31, 2016 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 4400 North Freeway (North U.S. Highway 45) service road at about 10:30 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 29). 

The identity of the deceased male victim, 60, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Duplechain and Officer G. Anderson reported:

The driver of a black Ford Focus, traveling at a high rate of speed, approached the red light at the intersection of the North Freeway service road and Crosstimbers and did not slow or stop.  The Focus then struck the victim, who was crossing at the crosswalk, and also struck a gray Nissan Sentra.  The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the Ford was found to be suffering a medical episode and determined not to be intoxicated at the time of the crash.  The driver of the Nissan was not injured.

The investigation is continuing.
