UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Assault at 6767 Long Drive


September 19, 2016 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in an incident in which a woman was critically injured at 6767 Long Drive about 11:05 p.m. on September 11.  

The suspect, Rogelio Alberto Guardado (H/m, 69), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 174th State District Court.  He is accused of critically injuring San Juanita Herrera, 41, of Houston.  Ms. Herrera suffered lacerations and head trauma and remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Horn and Officers S. Jimenez and T. Jackson reported: 

According to a witness, Ms. Herrera was standing near the entrance of an apartment complex at the above address when the driver of a gray Nissan Frontier pickup truck struck her.  The driver then traveled to the rear of the complex entrance, accelerated toward Herrera and struck her a second time.  The driver then put the vehicle in reverse and struck Herrera a third time.  As the driver left the apartment complex, he struck her a fourth time.  

A preliminary investigation led officers to the location of the vehicle on Sept. 12. 

Further investigation identified Guardado as the suspect in this case.  He was taken into custody today (September 19) without incident.
