Investigation into Fatal Crash at 2500 South Loop West


January 8, 2017 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 2500 South Loop West (South Interstate Highway 610 West) about 4:25 p.m. on Sunday (January 7).  

The identity of the male victim, 44, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Warhol and Officer D. Jones reported:  

The victim was operating a red Suzuki GXR 1300 motorcycle westbound on the South Loop service road when a black Volkswagen GLI exited the freeway onto the service road.  According to witnesses, the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed when the Volkswagen veered to the right and struck the motorcycle.  The victim died at the scene.  The driver of the Volkswagen remained at the scene and was questioned and released.  

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
