The mayor has been a fervent supporter of Segundo Barrio Children’s Chorus, Houston’s First and Only Bilingual Children’s Chorus, and the choir was the recipient of the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs City’s Initiative Grant for 2023. As ambassadors of Second Ward and the greater East End, our choir specifically shines the light on increasing access to the arts for under-resourced communities. All programming is offered tuition free. Representation in the arts is one of the primary mission pillars and all of the children and families and staff of SBCC.
