Update: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 5638 Selinskiy


August 10, 2015 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man and the wounding of another that occurred at 5638 Selinksky about 5:20 p.m. on Saturday (August 8).

James Mike (b/m, 21), aka Baby James, is charged with murder in the 339th State District Court.  A photo of Mike is not available at this time.  

The victim, Ricky Fitzgeral Shields, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The other victim, Marcus Simmons, 21, was transported to an area hospital and is expected to survive.  

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants J. Brooks and C. Cegielski reported:

Mr. Shields was at a barber's shop at the above address when he was shot.  He had previously been involved in a confrontation at an apartment complex across the street.  A second male (Simmons) was also shot but is expected to survive.  The unknown suspects fled in an unknown direction.

Further investigation developed information that identified Mike as a suspect in this case and, on Sunday (Aug. 9), he was arrested without incident.  The investigation into additional suspects is ongoing.
