Fatal Crash at 9600 Tidwell
December 31, 2015 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 9600 Tidwell about 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday (December 30).
The female victim, Elba Leon, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Salazar and Officer C. Washington reported:
Ms. Leon was driving a black Nissan Altima westbound on Tidwell when, according to a witness (passenger), she reached for her cell phone, lost control of her vehicle and slightly went off the roadway. As Leon attempted to steer back into her lane, the Altima crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck a gray Dodge Charger. Leon died at the scene. The witness, a front seat passenger in the Altima, 35, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Dodge was not injured.
