Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 5051 Yale


September 17, 2015 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another at 5051 Yale about 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 15).

The suspect, Joseph Jackson (b/m, 31), is charged with murder in the 263rd State District Court.  A photo of Jackson is attached to this news release.

The victims, Howard Ray Cooper, 33, and Keandre Glover, 20, were transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where Cooper was pronounced dead and Glover is in stable condition.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Smith and Senior Police Officer L. Lovelace reported:

Mr.'s Cooper and Glover were in the parking lot of a gas station at the above address when Cooper got into an argument with an unknown male who fled the scene.  Further investigation identified Jackson as the suspect in this case and he was arrested without incident on Wednesday (Sept. 16).
