A Harris County Precinct 1 deputy attempted to stop the suspect who was driving a silver Ford Focus at a high rate of speed at the Harris County Toll Road near Crosstimbers.  As the deputy constable pursued the suspect, an HPD patrol officer on-viewed the chase and attempted to assist but was unable to catch up to the pursuit.  The deputy constable then lost sight of the Focus at Rutland.  He  was about to suspend the chase when a citizen notified both the deputy and the HPD officer there was an accident nearby.  When officers arrived they learned the Focus, previously involved in the chase, had struck a tree and ejected the suspect.
