Investigation into Fatal Crash at 700 West 43rd Street


August 23, 2016 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 700 West 43rd Street about 11 p.m. on Monday (August 22).  

The male victim, 85, was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Roque and Officer A. Holmes reported:  

The driver of a blue Hyundai Elantra was traveling westbound at the above address and struck a bicyclist attempting to cross several lanes of traffic from the sidewalk.  There was no stop sign or crosswalk in the area.  The male driver of the Hyundai stopped, called 9-1-1 and remained at the scene.  He did not show signs of intoxication.  Paramedics transported the victim to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation continues.
