Feburary 6, 2018 - Houston police have arrested one male and a juvenile female wanted in the fatal stabbing of a man found at 3019 Truxillo at about 11:10 p.m. on December 7, 2017.

The adult suspect, Terrell Derrick Funches, (b/m, 20), is charged with capital murder in the 351st State District Court.  The juvenile female, 16, has been referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation Department authorities on a charge of capital murder.  A photo of Funches is attached to this news release.  The juvenile's photo is not available for release.

The victim, Altaf Hussain Malik, 44, of Richmond, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M. Brady and M. Casso reported:

A resident taking trash to the dumpster outside an apartment complex at the above address found a male's body covered in trash bags in the dumpster.  Officers and paramedics arrived and determined the male, Mr. Malik, had sustained stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no known witnesses located at the scene.

Further investigation determined that on December 6 members of Malik's family contacted the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office to report him missing.  Sheriff's detectives launched a comprehensive investigation to locate Malik and were told he had left his house about 8 p.m. on December 5 to meet an unknown person regarding the sale of his (Malik's) vehicle.

Investigators believe Malik went to the area of Bellaire Boulevard and State Highway 6 to sell his 2009 blue Audi A8.

Detectives from the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office and HPD, working together in this investigation, were able to identify the suspects in this case.  On Monday (February 5), both Funches and the juvenile suspect were arrested without incident.
