Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 3823 Richmond Avenue

February 17, 2020 - The fatal shooting of a male at 3823 Richmond Avenue that occurred about 3:10 p.m. on Saturday (February 15) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The identity of the male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Collier and J. Stroble reported:

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the business at the above address.  Upon arrival, officers found a male (shooter) who stated two suspects entered the store, one wearing a ski mask, gloves, jacket and armed with a pistol.  This suspect pushed an employee to the ground and pointed a pistol at the male.  The male then went into the office, retrieved a weapon and, in fear of his life, shot the armed suspect.  The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second suspect, whose description is unknown, fled to a vehicle with a third suspect sitting inside.  The suspect vehicle then backed into the store, damaging the front of the business, before fleeing.  The vehicle was located abandoned nearby.  The male inside the store was questioned and released pending a grand jury referral.

Anyone with information on the two other wanted suspects is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
