Tom EdwardsEdwards is a graduate of Sam Houston State University where he earned a B.A. in Teaching (Biology) in 1975 and a M.S. in Criminal Justice Management in 1984.  He retired at the rank of sergeant from the Houston Police Department in August of 2004 after serving 24 years.  He joined the Security Management Team in October of 2004 and quickly rose from an investigator to his current position as Chief of Security.  He served in the United States Navy as an officer aboard the USS ENTERPRISE CVN65 and is a retired Commander in the Navy Reserves.

As Chief of Security Edwards’ primary responsibility is to provide safe and secure facilities for employees and visitors while protecting City assets.  He is responsible for the physical security of more than 300 City facilities.  Edwards oversees the issuance of all City of Houston Identification Badges and is responsible for the installation and maintenance of security systems at City facilities.
