The City redevelops contaminated land, brownfields developers avoid due to real or perceived pollution from contaminated city soil. This Houston Brownfield Program revitalizes these areas, areas that may have been harmed by industrial facilities, gas stations, auto shops, or other use.
Using this City tool developers glide through what would be a boggy process of reclaiming abandoned or underutilized land.
This land helps the developer, but also increases the land available for Houston’s tax roll, a symbiotic reclamation, resulting from nonprofits, government, community and business working together.
