Projects - Dynamo Stadium
In May 2012 Houston opened Dynamo Stadium, a soccer stadium financed in part through an economic development agreement. This agreement created a world class soccer venue that buttresses Houston’s Historic East End. The stadium seats 22,039 and maintains 34 private suites.
The actual stadium consists of a facade of metal mesh with orange polycarbonate, a unique artistic design with urban undertones. This city centric stadium received LEED sliver certification from the U.S Green Building council, an award conferred both for the stadium's contemporary design and for diverting waste, reducing water, abating energy, and using certified wood.
Houston's two professional soccer teams, the Dynamo and the Dash, compete in the stadium.
