U.S. Conference of MayorsU.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM)

The U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) is a nonpartisan organization made up of cities with populations of 30,000 and more. USCM meets to discuss nationwide issues that impact cities. Each city is represented by its chief elected officer. Since his initial engagement with USCM in 2016, Mayor Turner has served as a member of the USCM Advisory Board, chair of the Metro Economies Committee, member of the Audit and Finance Committee, and trustee.

As chair of the Metro Economies Standing Committee, he and the committee consider and vote on policy resolutions in response to a broad variety of budget, tax, financial and intergovernmental issues that impact cities and usually require a federal administrative, regulatory or legislative fix.

As a member of the USCM Board of Trustees, Mayor Turner provides direction to the CEO about pressing issues facing U.S. cities and plays an instrumental role in mentoring new mayors into leadership positions. Trustees have helped the organization advocate for the passage of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the Bi-partisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

Mayor Turner has twice chaired the USCM Nominating Committee. Each spring, a Nominating Committee is assembled by the president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors to recommend member mayors to serve as officers, Trustees, and Advisory Board members.
