Apartment Fire in The Mid West Area

WHEN: August 30, 2021 at 8:51 a.m.

WHERE: 9400 Doliver, 77063

INJURIES: No reported injuries. 

PROPERTY SAVED: $312 thousand in estimated property saved.

DAMAGE: $20 thousand in estimated damage.

CAUSE: Unintentional

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find light smoke coming from a 2-story apartment building. They found and extinguish a kitchen fire on a stove which had spread to the surrounding cabinets. A primary search was completed with no one found. The crews pulled the ceiling to check for extension and a fan was used to remove smoke from the unit and nearby units. A stove burner had accidently been turned on with boxes on it. Firefighters from Stations 69, 2, 68, 83, 10, 49, 57 and the Village Fire Department responded to this incident.
