Rail

Houston currently has one existing and several planned light-rail lines that will connect major attractions and business/activity centers within Loop 610. The existing 7.5 mile Red Line connects Downtown Houston with Houston Community College, University of Houston Downtown, Rice University, the Museum District, arts and performing theaters, Hermann Park, the Texas Medical Center and Reliant Park. A 5.3 mile expansion north of the Red Line will connect Downtown to the Northline Commons Mall. The 6.6 mile Purple Line will link the southeast portion of Loop 610 with Downtown and terminate at the intersection of MLK and Griggs. The Green Line will run 3.3 miles and connect Downtown with the eastern portion of Loop 610, terminating at the Magnolia Transit Center.
