Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 6719 Briargate

November 30, 2009 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of an armed robbery suspect and wounding of another male at 6719 Briargate about 9:30 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 27).

The male suspect suffered gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The victim, Jonathan Young, 34, of Houston, suffered at least one gunshot wound and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in serious condition.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Bush and Officer C. Sturdivant reported:

Two armed male suspects attempted to rob Mr. Young in his residence when, at some point, gunfire erupted. One of the suspects was killed and Mr. Young was wounded. The other suspect was taken into custody on an unrelated charge and is under investigation in this case.

A large amount of cocaine was seized at the scene.
