February 5, 2010 - Charges are pending against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a woman and a juvenile female about 8:30 p.m. on Thursday (Feb. 4).

The suspect, Jaime Piero Cole (H/m, DOB: 3-5-70), faces capital murder charges. He is accused in the fatal shooting of his estranged wife, Melissa Dawn Cole, 31, of Houston, and her daughter, Alecia Desire Castillo, 15. Both females suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers H. A. Chavez and X. E. Avila reported:

Ms. Cole and Jaime Cole got into an argument when he arrived at her apartment to drop off their two-year-old and 10-year-old sons. The argument briefly stopped when Melissa’s daughter Alecia intervened, but continued again outside. As the argument escalated, Alecia again intervened. Jamie Cole then shot Melissa and Alecia and then fled the scene, taking the two-year-old son with him.

Jaime Cole was later located in Wharton County by Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers and taken into custody. The youngest boy was recovered unharmed and both sons were released to relatives.
