January 14, 2010 - Charges are pending against a third suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a woman at 6061 Beverly Hill #76 about 8:20 a.m. on Nov. 25, 2009.

The suspect, Kevin Andrew Haney (b/m, DOB: 5/20/92) faces a charge of tampering with evidence and remains in the Harris County Jail on an unrelated aggravated robbery charge.

Two other suspects, Danish Moazzam Minhas (A/m, DOB: 8-25-92) and Nur J. Mohamed (b/m, DOB: 12-22-91), are charged with capital murder in the 338th State District Court.

The victim, Tabassum Khan, 43, of the above address, suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Harris and Police Officer R. Houghton reported:

The son of Ms. Khan, Danish Moazzam Minhas, returned home the morning of Nov. 25 from a rare night out alone to find the door open and his mother dead.

Further investigation determined that Minhas had hired a fellow high school classmate, Nur J. Mohamed, to kill his mother. Both suspects have confessed to their roles in the killing. Minhas told investigators he wanted his mother dead because she was too strict and controlling. Mohamed told police Minhas paid him to kill Ms. Tabassum.

The investigation later led police to Kevin Andrew Haney, who confessed to his role in destroying evidence. Haney also told investigators he had direct knowledge of the murder plot and stabbing and was the person to whom the victim’s son, Minhas, handed money.
