Fatal Shooting at 3814 Collingsworth

January 27, 2010 - Houston police are investigating the shooting of a man at 3814 Collingsworth about 7:50 p.m. on Tuesday (Jan. 26).

The victim, 43, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition. Doctors stated he was brain dead, but have not pronounced the man dead. His identity is being withheld at this time.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer J. L. Coffelt and Officer J. R. Johnston reported:

Patrol officers responded to a shooting at 3814 Collingsworth and were told by witnesses that an unknown black male suspect, wearing a mask and armed with a handgun, approached the victim and fired several shots.
