Investigation into Fatal Accident at 17100 Tomball Parkway

June 8, 2010 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 17100 block of Tomball Parkway (State Highway 249 North) about 9:15 a.m. today.

The two victims, one male and one female, were both pronounced dead at the scene.  Their identities are pending verification by the Harris County Institute for Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Calley and Officer R. Tallent reported:

A brown GMC van was traveling northbound on the Tomball Parkway when it struck the rear of a four-door Saturn, unknown model, that was stopped in a moving lane.  The GMC then pushed the Saturn into the shoulder of the roadway and both vehicles caught on fire.  The driver of the GMC was able to escape his vehicle safely.  The driver and passenger in the Saturn were killed.

At this time, alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the accident. The investigation is continuing.
